Kenneth Francis Obituary

Kenneth A. Francis HERTFORD - Kenneth A. Francis, 86, passed away April 26, 2010. He was born March 23, 1924 in New London, Conn., to Phoebe Desire and Archie Palmer Francis. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia D. Francis; his son, John Jerome; two daughters, Laurie Ann and her husband Richard Rice and Kathryn F. Scott; and five grandchildren, Jamie and Jessica Francis, Kara and Emily Scott and Kenneth Roderic Rice. He was predeceased by son, Roderic Palmer; his parents; brothers Palmer, Alden and William; and sister, Priscilla Benton. He served as a second lieutenant with the 492nd Bomb Group Night Fighters in the 8th Air Force in World War II and also served in the Korean War. He graduated from Ithaca College with a master's degree in physical education and he was a captain for United Airlines for 31 years. A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Hertford, at 1 p.m. Friday, April 30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 125, Hertford, NC 27944.
