L. Harold Higgerson

L. Harold Higgerson CHESAPEAKE - L. Harold Higgerson, 96, of the 2800 block of Battlefield Blvd. South, died Monday, April 11, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Higgerson was born in DeValls Bluff, Ark., and was the son of the late Harry C. and Ruth M. Higgerson. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Eunice M. Higgerson; two sisters, Margie Higgerson and Geneva Mince; and a brother, Ivan Higgerson. Harold was the founder of Higgerson Brothers in 1946, and later incorporated as Higgerson-Buchanan Inc. in 1957. Survivors include his son, Don Harold Higgerson and wife Millie; grandchildren, Barry and wife Judy, Mark, Chris and wife Becky, Don, Jr. and wife Kim, Sherry and husband Steve, Jennifer and husband Skip, Wendy and husband Shane; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anna Lee Denkle and husband Don, and Evelyn Mason as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, at Great Bridge United Methodist Church. Rev. Thomas L. Mercer Sr. will officiate. The interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the service at a reception at Hickory United Methodist Church, 2708 Battlefield Blvd. South, Chesapeake.
