Lettie Garris Obituary

Lettie Mae Garris VIRGINIA BEACH - Lettie Mae Watson Garris, 97, formerly of Murfreesboro, died Monday, April 26, 2010 at Sentara Nursing Center in Norfolk. She was born Sept. 20, 1912 in Washington County, North Carolina, to the late Claude Franklin Watson and Bertie Arnold Watson. She was the wife of the late Grady H. Garris. She was a member of Meherrin Baptist Church and a homemaker. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, May 1, at 2 p.m. at the graveside in Meherrin Baptist Church Cemetery. Andy Styron will officiate. Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Gladys Styron of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren, Andy Styron and his wife Janet, Sarah Newsome, Sharon Ward and her husband Marland, Sherry Haskell and her husband Bill, Robert Lunt and his wife Connie and Kevin Styron and his wife Darlene; 18 great- grandchildren; and 31 great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Audrey Lunt; seven sisters; two brothers; and two grandchildren, Randy and Troy Styron. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
