Linwood Snyder Obituary

Linwood Snyder Sr. SUFFOLK - Linwood Parks Snyder Sr. was 85 when he made his transition Oct. 15, 2010 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Lillian Parks and John Snyder; sisters, Yetive and Helen; and brother, Jack. He served in the Army and returned to graduate from Woodrow Wilson High School. He retired from NNSY and moved to Eagle River, Alaska, and later to Prescott Valley, Ariz., before returning to Virginia three years ago. He was Past Master of Aztlan Lodge No. 1, Prescott, Ariz., and a member of McAllister Lodge No. 185, Whaleyville, Va. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite, AMD, Sojourners and the Shrine. He is survived by his wife, Lyn; son, Linwood and daughters, Lyn Snyder Hoflin of Colorado, and Lisa and Ernie Byrd of South Carolina; stepchildren, Michael Ross, Korea, Donna and David Lupton, Andrew Ross of Chesapeake, Lisa and Michael Turner of Suffolk. He had 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Linwood was a member of Temple Sinai, Portsmouth. A memorial service will be held at R.W. Baker, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, Monday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Scottish Rite Learning Center, P.O. Box 7276, Portsmouth, VA 23707, or a charity of your choice.
