Mable Hobbs Obituary

Mable Gay Hobbs CHESAPEAKE - Mable Gay Hobbs, 92, formerly of Blackthorne Drive, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, May 2, 2010. Born in Ayden, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Luna G. Crisp. She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, William Henry Hobbs Jr. and a brother, Milton R. Crisp. Mable was a member of Great Bridge Baptist Church and a former member of Level Green Baptist Church. Throughout her life, she was active in various churches as a Sunday school teacher, vacation Bible school teacher, as well as the WMU, Bible study circles and various mission groups. Left to cherish her memory are four sons, William H. Hobbs III and wife Marie, Jack H. Hobbs, Harry A. Hobbs and wife Hollie and Arthur S. Hobbs and wife Susie; six grandchildren, Pamela D. Hobbs, Jennifer H. Simmons and husband Rob, Tracie Cullen and husband Keith, Dawn Schneider and husband Luke, William S. Hobbs and wife Bethany and Stephanie M. Hobbs and fiancé Sean Hopkins; 11 great-grandchildren, Trey, Grace, Dale, KC, Rachael, Skylar, Faith, Allison, Tylor, Makinzie and Zoey; as well as several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, May 7, at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. Dr. Will Langford and the Rev. Charles L. Moseley will officiate. The interment will be in Ayden Cemetery, Ayden, N.C. The viewing will begin Thursday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Great Bridge Baptist Church Building Fund, 640 S. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23322.
