Margaret Willis Obituary

Margaret Marie Willis NORFOLK - Margaret Willis, 82, deeply loved as a mother, grandmother and friend, went to be with the Lord on May 24, 2010. Margaret was born Feb. 13, 1928 in Wise, Va. She married her one true love, Guion H. Willis Sr. on Sept. 8, 1950 in Elizabeth City, N.C., and was a loyal wife and companion until her husband's death in 1972. She lovingly raised her three children and then her three grandchildren. She adored her grandchildren and loved them completely. Margaret was a beautiful, kind, simple- spoken woman whose gift was making friends. Her parents, Elbert and Leila, raised her to work hard and to be a good person. She was the youngest of her siblings and saw each of them leave this world before her. Her brothers, Wade, Doc, Huey, John B., Frank and Warren and her sisters, Bessie, Ruth, Pearl and Blanch grew up rich in love. She in turn enriched the lives of everyone she met. Her children, Linda Spivey of Norfolk, Gail W. Partain and son-in-law Dan of Virginia Beach and Guion H. Willis Jr. and daughter-in-law Diane of Norfolk will miss her dearly. It was, and is, her wish that her grandchildren, Crystal, Daniel and Guy, work hard, be happy, get a good education, marry someone for love and know the joy of having Jesus as a friend and savior. She also leaves behind the children of her now passed sisters and brothers whom she loved and who loved her. Margaret's family wanted to let Margert's nephew, Marvin, know how much they appreciated his love and interest in their mother over the years. The family will receive family and friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. A celebration of life will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 5767 Sellger Drive, Norfolk, VA 23502. Interment will be private. Because of Margaret's love for children, the family requests that donations be made to any children's charity in lieu of flowers. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.woodlawngroup.com.
