Martha Dale Obituary

Martha D. Dale EDENTON - Martha Magdalene "Maggie" Downing Dale, 82, of the 900 block of Cabarrus St., died Monday, June 7, 2010, in Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville. Mrs. Dale was born in Chowan County and was the daughter of the late George William and Cassie Alexander Downing. Retired from the central office staff of the Edenton-Chowan Schools, she was a member of Edenton Baptist Church, the Educational Office Personnel Association, and the Edenton Business and Professional Women's Club where she served as president in 1976-77 and also received its Woman of the Year Award in 1976. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Murray Rudolph Dale. Surviving are two sons, George Win Dale and wife Lynn and P. Lynn Dale and wife Jennifer, all of Edenton; two sisters, Jessie Harrell of Williamston and Virginia Johnson of Halifax; and four grandchildren, Annie, Hunter, Ethan and Madelyn. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Edenton Baptist Church by the Rev. David Brooks. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to Edenton Baptist Church, 200 S. Granville St., Edenton, NC 27932. Online condolences may be made to the family by visiting www.millerfhc.com.
