Martha Hudgins

Martha A. Hudgins NORFOLK - Martha Naomi Ayers Hudgins, 83, entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior Sunday, April 18, 2010, in Heritage Hall, Virginia Beach. Born Nov. 12, 1926 in Suffolk, she was the daughter of the late William Albert Ayers and Dolith Estelle Harmon Ayers. Mrs. Hudgins was a member of Talbot Park Baptist Church, Wayside Circle of the Kings Daughters, and Belvedere Garden Club. As a faithful servant of the Lord, she served as a deacon, director and teacher of the Esther Class, and director of the Sunshine Group and Woman's Missionary Group at TPBC. Martha was the loving and devoted wife of the late Leslie H. Hudgins for 55 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will forever be remembered. Survivors include her daughter, Donna R. Baker and husband Vance R. of Virginia Beach; two granddaughters, Lindsey R. Baker and Jenna R. Baker, both of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Jacqueline Layman of Florida, Elaine Vess of North Carolina, and Peggy Anne Forehand of Suffolk. She was predeceased by a sister, Geneva Blunt of Richmond, Va., and a brother, William Ayers of Washington. A memorial service celebrating Martha Hudgins' life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, in Talbot Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Martin presiding.
