Mary Butts

Mary Eileen Butts VIRGINIA BEACH - Mary Eileen Butts, 79, of the 400 block of Big Pine Drive, passed away Nov. 4, 2010 at a local hospital. A native of County Galway, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nora Heanue. She was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Butts; her daughter, Terry Allred and husband Rick; her son, George Butts and wife Victoria; four sisters, Bridget Ester Brown and husband Donald, Josephine Traum and husband Ed, Mona Kahn and husband Ken, Margaret Con Mullen; a brother, Patrick Heanue and wife Mary Coyne; and six grandchildren, Ricky Allred and wife Kirsten, Lauren Allred, Tara Butts, Gracie Butts, Thomas Butts and Meagen Lee. A funeral Mass will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in St. Nicholas Catholic Church. The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. Burial will be held in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family would like to express their gratitude for all who assisted in her rescue and to know how much their efforts in finding her alive were appreciated by the family. The search and rescue teams, the Virginia Beach police department the news media and all the massive volunteers. Words can't describe what a gift it was to have her for another 90 days. She never really recovered from the trauma of the whole ordeal. The effort put out by the community was incredible. She was truly a strong woman and as she used to say, she was "fit as a fiddle" and fought to the end.
