Mary Vickers Obituary

Mary Louise Vickers CHESAPEAKE - Mary Louise Vickers, 87, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010 in Sentara Leigh Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 10, 1923 in Pikeville, N.C., the daughter of the late James and Mary Carr Brown. Louise was a member of Brentlox Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great- great-grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her daughter, Maxine. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Keith L.; her daughter, Linda Criger and husband Roy; her son, Randy L. Vickers, all of Chesapeake; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and her one great-great- grandchild. She is also survived by her one sister, Cassie Deans of Portsmouth. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The Rev. Ray Hall will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The viewing will begin with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 27, in the funeral home. Friends are invited to send condolences and to sign the online guest book at www.omanfh.com. Memorial donations may be made in Louise's name to Brentlox Baptist Church or to your local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.

Mr. Vicker, I'm sorry for the loss of Louise,but she is sitting at Jesus feet now & talking with him. She was a Joy to know and I loved the way she was with the little kids in the church. I remember her always giving the kids gum & talking with them. Just remember we at Brent-Lox love you & loved Lousie. may God bless & keep you in his care.
