Matilda Gaul Obituary

Matilda M. Gaul NORFOLK - Matilda M. "Tillie" Gaul, 89, passed away April 8, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Gaul Jr. Her legacy continues in her children, daughter Diane Cancino and husband Frank and their children Christopher and Vincent of Pensacola, Fla., son William J. Gaul and his children Melissa, Andrew, Anna and Phillip of Townsend, Tenn., son Joseph Gaul and wife Margaret and their sons Joseph John and wife Kristen of San Antonio, Texas and son John Edward of Norfolk, daughter Mary Turner of Norfolk, and her son Jason and wife Denise of Manteo, N.C., daughter Teresa M. Pearson and her daughter Alex of Virginia Beach, daughter Veronica A. Swayne and husband Mark and sons Steven and Erik of Great Falls, Va., as well as several great-grandchildren. She was a founding member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was the rock and foundation of the family and will be deeply, deeply missed. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 10 a.m. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the charity of your choice in Tillie's name. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
