I also met Mike through music. He mixed for the Bush Hogs, one of Sammy Harrell's bands, every Sunday at Jamaican Johnnys at the beach. Some nights he'd blow the harp onstage with us, too.
Most recently I worked with him at the amphitheater until this season when he had to back out. He showed up one day during pre-season and we talked a bit; he was still just as salty and crusty and funny! I will miss his stories and gentle barbs he used to toss at me.

I'm truly saddened by Mike's passing. I worked with him at the amphitheater and he mixed some of the bands I played in. I hung out with Mike at the place he and RD shared for so many years. So many good times jamming and raging. His spirit was so bright it always helped me to be around him. He was wise and generous and my world is smaller without him. My most heartfelt condolences to his family and associates. We'll miss you terribly.

Mike, beneath your cranky, tough-guy exterior, you were one of the nicest guys I've ever known. You always greeted me with a warm handshake or hug. You were a good man, who will be missed by all of us in the Hampton Roads music scene. I remember many good gigs playing at the amphitheater and talking with you backstage.

Godspeed brother.

Mike, I will miss greeting you on show days at the amphitheater. You always put a smile on my face and I enjoyed hanging out with you so much. The positive attitude and courage you showed going into this operation was unbelievable. The love I have for you will never be replaced., you my freind, can never be replaced!
