Myrick Carmichael Obituary

Myrick E. Carmichael NORFOLK - Myrick Eugene Carmichael, 59, of the 6900 block of Doummar Drive, passed away Oct. 13, 2010 in his home. A native of Mobile, Ala., he was the son of the late Monroe Carmichael. He retired from the United States Navy as a PO1 and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Reyes Carmichael; three daughters, Kimberly Carmichael, Jacklyn Salazar and Amy Stewart; two sons, David A. Carmichael and Eric S. Carmichael; his mother, Janette Carmichael; a brother, Darrell Carmichael; a sister, Sharron Carmichael and six grandchildren, Tyrique Hamment, Daryl Stewart Jr., Marcus Cook, Delano Cook, Sadie Stewart and Zachariah Carmichael. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic church with Fr. Venancio Balarote Jr. officiating. The burial with military honors will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Saturday and Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

Mr. Carmichael was truly a lovely person. He was always willing to help, but he wouldn't let anyone push him around. I'm going to miss him dearly, as I know many more will also. God rest his soul and bring peace to his family.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Myrick at Portsmouth naval Medical Center for a short period of time back in 2000 and remember him as always being a kind person. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Rest in peace Myrick.
