Sidney Lovas Obituary

Sidney Basnight Lovas VIRGINIA BEACH - The memory of Sidney Basnight Lovas is treasured in our minds and hearts, as she was the light that kept our lives bright. Sidney was born Feb. 27, 1960 in Norfolk to Roy W. and Joyce Dixon of Cape Charles. She went to be with the Lord on Nov. 12, 2010 at her home in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. She and her husband Jasen enjoyed the time they shared between Virginia and Florida. Each season has its own wonder, its own special place, and purpose in the pattern of creation, for this reason Sidney was nature's favorite admirer. She loved the beauty of God's paintings with earth as his canvas experiencing the sunrises, sunsets and many starry nights. She was a free-spirited, energetic woman with a huge heart, and had an adoring love for her family, boating, traveling and the outdoors. Sidney's emerald green eyes, laugh and smile always brightened the room she was in. She never met a stranger and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her love for animals was very apparent and she will be missed by her buddy, "Peanut Butter." She leaves to cherish her memory her husband and best friend of 20 years, Jasen Lovas of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; one daughter, Taylor Basnight and her spouse Orlin McLendon of Palm Beach Gardens and their daughter, London "Bella" McLendon, the light of Sidney's eye; one sister, Ann Curling of Cape Charles; one brother, Tim Dixon of Cape Charles; her father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Marque Lovas of Virginia Beach. She also had a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Sidney was preceded in death by her brother, Roy W. Dixon Jr. A celebration of Sidney's life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at Spring Branch Community Church, 1500 N. Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, (757) 333-7222 with Pastor Dean Woodward of Grace Bible Church officiating. Reception immediately following the service will be held at the church. Donations can be made to Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary, In memory of Sidney Basnight Lovas, P.O. Box 1843, Jupiter, FL 33468.
