Solomon Fitzgerald Obituary

Solomon K. Fitzgerald VIRGINIA BEACH - Solomon King "Babe" Fitzgerald, 83, of the 400 block of Southgate Ave., died Aug. 19, 2010. Born in Norfolk, he was a retired truck driver with Krispak and a member of Covenant Fellowship Church, Chesapeake, where he was involved with the Senior's Ministry and Men's Ministry. Survivors include his wife, Maebel Fitzgerald; three daughters, Dorothy Overton (Curlee), Joyce Ann Johnson (Jerry), Sharon Harold (Stanley); two sons, Leon Fitzgerald (Delores) and Daschell Fitzgerald; one sister, Lucille Poole; one brother, Charlie Fitzgerald; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Solomon and Sarah Fitzgerald; and three children, George Fitzgerald, Jestine Fletcher, and Bishop Edward Fitzgerald. A viewing will be held Monday, Aug. 23, from 6 to 7 p.m. A funeral will be held Tuesday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m. in New Jerusalem COGIC, Virginia Beach. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. Community Funeral Home, Norfolk, is in charge.

I am so glad I was able to be with him a couple of days before he passed. He was a great man and will be very much missed. My condolences to Aunt Maebel, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
