Steven A. Roberts

Steven A. Roberts VIRGINIA BEACH - Steve Roberts, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away Jan. 28, 2009, of metastasized melanoma in Virginia Beach. Born in New York City June 8, 1940, to Ida and Louis Roberts, he grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., attending P.S. 91 and Wingate High School. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin and his MBA from New York University. He had a distinguished career in personnel and human resources, working for Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Barber Steamship Lines before establishing, with his wife Kathy, his own company, Fortune Personnel. For the last 18 years he served as director of the Office of Human Resources at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his daughters, Jennifer Rubin (Beno), Kim Roberts and Shannon Hood (Bryan); and his twin sons, Christopher (Shawnea) and Kiley (Sharalee); his grandchildren, Zach and Allie Rubin, Noah Hood, Hannah Roberts and Haley, Justin and Lily Roberts; his brother, Elliot (Tey); and his nieces, Bari Roberts and Lisa (Wes) Arvin; and his nephew, Michael (Susan) Roberts. Steve will be known for his gentleness of spirit, his generosity and good humor, his intelligence and thoughtfulness and his loving nature. He enjoyed spending quality time with his wife, kids and grandchildren. Private services will be held. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, in charge of arrangements.
