Vicki Nelson Obituary

Vicki L. Nelson CHESAPEAKE - Vicki Lamarr Nelson, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, went home to be with Jesus Monday morning, Sept. 13, 2010. Born and raised in Lynchburg, Va., Oct. 19, 1946, Vicki made Tidewater her second home. Vicki worked as a computer operator for General Electric 1976-86 and The Virginian-Pilot until her retirement. After living with and battling cancer for 14 years, she spent her last days with her family and friends by her side. Vicki was predeceased by her parents, Elmer and Leona Ward. She is survived by her husband, John Nelson Jr.; two sons, Albert Nelson and Michael Nelson; daughter-in- law, Gretchen; and canine companion, Maxie. A graveside service on her 64th birthday will be held at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Gene Primm officiating. Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is handling arrangements. By her request, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
