Grace Bowman Obituary

Grace Webb Bowman VIRGINIA BEACH - Grace Webb Bowman, 89, was at her home when she passed from this life April 2, 2010. She follows her beloved husband and soulmate of 52 years, Charles Eugene Bowman. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Drain of Wayne, Ohio, and a son, Charles Leslie Bowman and his wife Martha Adams of Chesterfield, Va. Also remaining are eight grandchildren, Sue Nielsen, Darrin Drain, Charles Leslie Bowman Jr., Denise Bowman Flatley, Ted Drain, Ralph Drain and Connie Pippin, as well as Lynn Pack Harris, who she always regarded as a granddaughter. She also leaves 16 adoring great- grandchildren, who will always remember their "Granny Grace," and her loving and loyal friend, Virginia Kingsberry. Grace attended nurses training in Savannah, Ga., and throughout her career she became one of the first women promoted to positions that were traditionally held by men. She retired as a transportation analyst at the Norfolk Naval Base. Grace was a beloved and respected person among her family, friends and neighbors and will be missed by many. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, with the Rev. Joyce Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered to the family at www. hollomon-brown.com.
