Nicholas Vislocky Obituary
Norfolk - Nicholas F. Vislocky died peacefully at home on September 23, 2016. He was the son of the late Nicholas and Anne ("Nina") Vislocky. He graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School and completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Old Dominion University. He also served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
Nick enjoyed his long career in Special Education with the Norfolk Public School system and later at CHKD. He was also an adjunct professor at ODU for many years. Respected both as teacher and administrator, he was a passionate advocate for those with disabilities and special needs. Nick was very grateful for his fulfilling career.
Nick is survived by his wife, Susan Taylor Vislocky; daughter Anna V. Early (Bob); son Jonathan T. Vislocky (Claire); beloved granddaughter Julia Early who adored her "Pops"; sister Helen Coker and uncle John Vislocky. He is also survived by a large extended family of in-laws, cousins, and many nieces and nephews. Lastly, Nick is survived by his wonderful "Westover family", friends of thirty plus years. We created many great memories together, and we shall cherish them and Nick forever.

Dear Susan,
I just recently learned of Nicky's passing. I am so sorry I didn't know earlier. We go back a long time & as you know I was very fond of his parents. Life is unpredictable and often ends too soon.

I am so very sorry to hear of Nick's passing. We worked together for many years when he was in the Special Needs Department and I in the Transportation Department. Nick always brought a smile to my face and he will be missed dearly.

Nick was my supervisor when I first began teaching in Norfolk. He was a great advocate for students with disabilities and a great inspiration to me as I began my career here. My thoughts and prayers are with his family!

So sorry to hear of his death. I attended NCHS with Nick. I will keep your family in my prayers. My husband died last month and I understand the great emptiness you are feeling.
