Richard Gallmeyer Obituary

Richard R. Gallmeyer

Virginia Beach - Richard "Dick" Raymond Gallmeyer, 85, passed away October 28, 2016. Dick was born in Buffalo, NY to the late Clarence and Helen Letzner Gallmeyer. He served as a radio operator in the US Army, 3rd Infantry Division, and was a veteran of the Korean War. Dick administered a free data base from his home for over 18 years to help Korean War veterans reconnect. He went on to organize a large Korean War veterans reunion in Virginia Beach, reacquainting service members with each other from all over the country. Following the war, Dick pursued amateur radio using the code "K2QDT". For more than 20 years, he also enjoyed bowling at the Lynnhaven Alley in Virginia Beach.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 12 years, Doris Gallmeyer; son, Paul Gallmeyer; and a host of other family and friends.

Services will be private. Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Chesapeake is handling the arrangements. Please visit his book of memories at www.grahamfuneralhome.com to leave a condolence to the family.
