Joshua Greene Obituary

Joshua Greene
MORTON - Joshua L. Greene, 42, of Morton passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2018.
Josh was born on April 29, 1975, in Peoria to Steven and Norma (Armbruster) Greene. He married Alishia House on Aug. 8, 1998, in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife, Alishia Greene of Morton; his two children, Chase and Kennedy Greene, both at home; his parents, Steven and Norma Greene of Morton; his father and mother-in-law, James and Darla House of Mackinaw; his sister, Jena (Steve) Richardson of Streator, Ill.; his maternal grandmother, Marla Armbruster of Morton; four nephews, Joshua and Mason LaFleur and Abraham and Judah Mischley; and two nieces, Madison Hess and Petra Mischley.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Carter Everett.
Josh was a 1993 graduate of Morton High School.
He was a union electrician and member of NECA IBEW Local 34 in Peoria for 20 years. He was Operations Manager for Heart Technologies in East Peoria and was previously a foreman for Kaiser Electrical Contractors, Inc. in Morton.
Josh was well-known for his giving heart and love of serving his community. He was very instrumental in organizing the Kids Muddy Madness for St. Jude fundraising event in Morton. He and his wife were active members and runners of the St. Jude Morton to Peoria Run for the past eight years.
He and his family attended Grace Church in Morton and served in their nursery. Josh was honored to serve as a volunteer fireman on the Morton Fire Department since 2000. His brothers at the fire department were such an instrumental part of his life. His son, Chase, also had ambitions to become a fireman like his father, with plans to receive his fire science degree after high school. It was their goal to serve on the Morton Fire Department together. Josh was loved by everyone and did not know a stranger or enemy. He had such a giving heart and never said no to helping a friend. He will be most remembered for his quick wit. He was always cracking a joke and could make anyone laugh.
Josh was also an avid outdoorsman. Since his kids were very little, they enjoyed 4-wheeling together and spending as much time outside as possible. He and his son often hunted deer together. He and the kids were known to spend hours out in the woods, behind their house, shooting guns, building deer stands and making 4-wheeling trails together.
Josh also loved to run races with his wife and friends. In the last few years, he had completed two Spartan races, several half marathons and numerous shorter runs, along with their annual Morton to Peoria St. Jude run.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at Grace Church in Morton, with Pastor Jonathan Farrell and Pastor Brian Wood officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday, both at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.
Memorials made be made to the St. Jude Morton to Peoria Run or the Morton Fire Department.

Big time prayers go out to all family members. Even though I didn't really know Joshua, I have great respect for electricians because of all they know how to do (and I don't!) I also can relate to running, as my brother is an avid runner; and to hunting some too, as my brother-in-law loves to hunt deer. So stand strong in the Lord, as He is there for us in all of life's challenges.
