I'll never forget pastor being with me the night Jack was injured. He never left my side for hours. He was the best pastor I have ever had in all my years in the church. he meant very much to my children also. He was so kind and understanding to everyone. My parents , Virginia and Maurice Ritter were also very appreciative of him. He was one of Dad's very best friends. We will all miss him. My prayers are with you.

Rev. James Hazelwood was the most humble man. He was a true and honest person that would share and educate those that wanted to know the Lord. From my family who are in heaven welcoming him. And from me here I am so sorry for the loss but not for him meeting with his friend and father.

What a great soul--Rev Jim Hazelwood. He will be sorely missed. To our family, he will always be someone near and dear to our hearts and lives. His interest and concern for the lives of others was always obvious and appreciated down through the years at Galesburg 1st Church. We all send our most sincere condolences to the Hazelwood family and circle of friends. The Tingleys

In the course of a lifetime there are persons who rise to the place of prominence and prestige in my heart because of the defining impact and formative role they have played. Rev. James Hazelwood is one of those persons. As a young person who stumbled into the Church and ended up spending a lifetime serving God through the Church, much of my spiritual heritage can be traced to the sacrificial and Christ-like influence of men like Rev. James Hazelwood. Throughout my early years of coming to know Christ, Rev. Hazelwood would consistently be speaking into my life by encouraging me to work hard, reach high and never discount what God can do when we are willing to trust Him. I'm humbled and honored to have been a product of this great man's devotion to God and his committed life of pouring into the lives of others!
