MACOMB - Clara Lou Andrews Holler, age 89, of 101 W. Barsi Blvd., Macomb, Ill., died at 4 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2011, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
She was born on Jan. 31, 1922, in New Salem Township near Adair, the daughter of Ellis and Lulu Graham Conner. She first married Gaillard Andrews on June 16, 1946, in Knoxville, Ill. He preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1985. She later married Glenn Holler on Sept. 19, 1987, in Macomb. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1996.
She is survived by two sons, Steve (JoLon) Andrews of Macomb and Jerry (Ki Sun) Andrews of O'Fallon, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Patricia (Scott) Hines; one stepson, Glenn (Diana) Holler; five grandchildren, Brian Andrews, Mark (Kelley) Andrews, Joshua Andrews, Nathan Andrews and Isaac Andrews; and one brother, Charles Conner of Macomb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and one grandson, Levi Andrews.
Clara lived most of her life in the Macomb area, and for several years she wintered in Arizona.
She was a graduate of Western Illinois University and taught high school in Good Hope and Industry before her retirement in 1986.
Clara loved playing bridge at the YMCA and at Wesley Village and spending time with her family.
She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, a former member of Daughter's of the American Revolution, the FHA and the Retired Teachers' Association.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2011, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb. The Rev. Becky Lembke will officiate. The family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb.
Memorials may be made to the MDH Hospice Program.
