WASHINGTON - John Michael Kolvek, 75, of Rockaway Beach, Mo., the father of a Washington woman and a Morton man, died at 9:01 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Cox Hospital in Springfield, Mo. He was surrounded by his family.
John was born June 17, 1937, in Omaha, Neb., to Russell and Agnes Kolvek. He was formerly married to Nancy J. Nelson (Snoke) on June 12, 1959, and they were the parents of three children. He later married Diane Ward on Oct. 18, 1987.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Kolvek of Rockaway Beach, Mo.; his daughter, Elizabeth (Gary) Summers of Washington, Ill.; his two sons, Michael (Lori) Kolvek of Lapeer, Mich., and Andrew (Sherrill) Kolvek of Morton, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his stepson, Chris (Lynn) Ward of Colorado; his stepdaughter, Wendy Ward of Virginia; and one stepgranddaughter. He is also survived by his brother, James Kolvek of Omaha, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara Archer.
He graduated in 1956 from Benson High School in Omaha, Neb., and was a sheet-metal tradesman until his retirement.
He served in the United States Navy.
He was an avid sports fan and loved spending time out on the lake. He also greatly enjoyed and loved his family.
At his request, no services will be held, and his ashes will be scattered in the mountains of Colorado at a later date.
