MORTON - Lance W. Neece, 48, of Morton died at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at his home.
He was born Feb. 16, 1963, in Springfield, Ill., to H. Keith and Jean (Samp) Neece.
Surviving are two daughters, Jade King of Fayetteville, N.C., and Kaycee Paris of Clarksville, Tenn.; one son, Lance William Neece Jr. of Fort Hood, Texas; four grandchildren; his mother and stepfather, Jean and Jim Destefano of Morton; one brother, Scott (Amy) Neece of Lincoln, Ill.; one sister, Jodi (Justin) Thies of Lincoln; and his maternal grandmother, Mary Samp of Morton.
He was preceded in death by his father.
An Army veteran, Lance retired from military service as a diesel mechanic. He last ran the motor pool and attained the rank of chief warrant officer. He served in Operation Freedom in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Cremation will be accorded. A private family graveside service will be held in Cerro Gordo Cemetery in Cerro Gordo, Ill. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.

Lance and I were fantastic friends from the moment we met and an inspiration to each other. His friendship brought my family through a long deployment of our Soldier. I always thought I would see him again, to say thanks for all the support and good times.
