Ronald Parmele Obituary

MACKINAW - Ronald C. Parmele, 80, of Mackinaw, Ill., died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Heritage Manor in Normal, Ill.

Ron was born Jan. 3, 1929, in Mackinaw Township to Earl and Iris Roberts Parmele. They preceded him in death.

Also preceding Ron in death were two brothers, David and Ralph.

Ron is survived by one daughter, Diane (Mike) Brothers of Decatur; two sons, Ron (Patty) Parmele of Mackinaw and Mark (Linda) Parmele of Mackinaw; four grandchildren, Craig Parmele, Jeff Parmele, Ryan (Nicole) Parmele and Stacy (Brandon) Grubbs; two brothers, Ursel (Myrna) Parmele of Rensselaer, Ind., and Jerry (Karen) Parmele of Mackinaw; and one sister, Noreen Haubrock of Phoenix, Ariz.

Ron owned and operated Parmele's Service in Mackinaw for more than 50 years, retiring in 2000.

Ron had been a past member of Mackinaw Lions Club, Mackinaw Masonic Lodge 132 AF&AM and Mackinaw Christian Church.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2009, at Mackinaw Christian Church. The Rev. Kevin Robbins will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Mackinaw Christian Church. Burial will be in Mackinaw Township Cemetery.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made in memory of Ron to Mackinaw Rescue Squad or Passages Hospice.

Haensel Funeral Home in Mackinaw is assisting with arrangements.

I always enjoyed my visits to the the gas station. Ron truly provided "full service" to his customers. Many times I needed oil, tires inflated, and answers to "What is that funny noise?" I will miss his friendly personality and genuine kindness. He was a very special man...a good person.
