Stacey Tomczyk
PEORIA - Stacey Ann Tomczyk, 45, of Peoria passed away at 10:59 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
Stacey was born on February 8, 1971, in Chicago Ill., to Chester A. (Chet) and Constance Lannert Tomczyk.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents James W. Lannert and Chester and Stacia Tomczyk.
She is survived by two brothers, Kevin Tomczyk and Todd and Rebecca Tomczyk; nephews, Jeffery, Christopher and Nicholas Tomczyk; and grandmother, Ann Lannert; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Stacey was employed at public television station WTVP since 1997 as a promotional assistant, then Promotions Director, and for the past three years as Interim Program Director. Public Television was her major passion in life. She spent much of her time promoting the various station activities on air, online and in print. Her distinctive voice could be heard reading many of the stations promotional spots.
A second passion was encouraging reading and writing for youngsters. She was thoroughly dedicated to children's programming, the Young Writers and Illustrators Competition and was reportedly on a first name basis with Grover and Cookie Monster.
She enjoyed sharing children's books from various book drives and passing them along to youngsters in schools throughout Central Illinois on behalf of WTVP. Stacey was also a huge devotee of Masterpiece Theatre, especially the Sherlock Holmes mysteries. She also volunteered at the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, Crittenden Crisis Nursery and the Contemporary Art Center.
Stacey was on the Board of the Peoria St. Patrick Society and the Clonmel Sister Cities Association. She emceed the north stage musical presentations at the annual Erin Feis event, moderated trivia contests and other activities for both groups, and volunteered at other Irish events throughout the year.
Stacey had a quirky sense of humor, which saw joy in the most ordinary things. She enjoyed being with close friends and work associates, and travelling with friends when time permitted.
Stacey was a devout Catholic and was a lector at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Peoria.
She was employed by the Red Chair Bakery in Bloomington, Ind., where she learned to be an exceptional baker. Her chocolate chip cookies and specialty cakes will be missed by family and friends alike.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends for the truly large hole left in their lives.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Fr. Dustin Schultz will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Wright and Salmon Mortuary, with recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. An additional visitation will be from 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Stacey's name to public television station WTVP.

All my best.
