Margo and I met Ruth and Jerry in 1960. He and I worked for the International Division of Hyster Company then headquartered in Peoria. His sweet demeanor and spirituality permeated everything he touched. His bright personality and twinkle lightened our lives. Sleep well, O good and faithful servant.

My husband and I met Jerry through our friend at The Lutheran Village. He was always fun to listen to and learn from. We loved his stories and his big smile. We feel blessed to have known him even if it was just a short time.

I am so sorry for your great loss. May the God who "binds up the brokenhearted" and "comforts all who mourn" sustain your family during this challenging time. (Isaiah 61:1,2) With heartfelt sympathy.

Jerry turned to me one day and said "I am going to heaven. Do you know why I know I am? Because I believe I am."
What a wonderful expression of faith.
I will carry that moment with me the rest of my days.

He also told me that right after meeting Jesus he was going to join his wife at the chocolate shop. That was an agreement they made when she was alive.

He had a smile that lit up a room and a way of making you feel so welcome that the time flew by when with him.

I am grateful to have met him. He was a wonderful man.

Jerry was one of the finest friends and gentleman we ever knew. We loved him and Ruth the first Sunday they came to Cornerstone Baptist Church. He was a great deacon and a great Christian. - Ron and Alberta Clark
