WASHINGTON - Herbert E. Burdette, 87, of Washington passed away at 2:42 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.
Herb was born on Sept. 2, 1927, in Peoria County to Elmer and Olive (Hunt) Burdette. He married Hildamae McDaniel in Peoria on Sept. 28, 1947. She died on Dec. 15, 2000, in Peoria. He later married Norma (McDaniel Newland) Mixon on Nov. 14, 2007, in Peoria. Norma survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Cheri (Tony) Rodgers and Marla (Sam) Reeder, both of Washington; four sisters, Verna Jones of Hanna City, Marjorie Miller of South Carolina, Eunice (Phil) Stockdell of Peoria and Velma Peters of Bartonville; one brother, Lloyd (Grace) Burdette of East Peoria; two grandchildren, Mike and Ashley; three stepgrandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Herb was also preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy, Ina and Ruby; and one brother, Arnold.
Herb had been a plumber in the Washington and Peoria areas for many years, last working for Dick Rich Plumbing.
He was an Army veteran and had served in the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington and had been on the church bowling team many years.
Herb also had been a member of Plumbers Local 63, Washington Kiwanis Club and Kennel Lake Sportsman Club.
Herb loved to fish in his spare time.
Funeral services for Herb will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2015, at Mason-White Funeral Home, with Pastor Dick Hanson officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be either directed to St. Mark's Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
