Ted Colvin Obituary
EAST PEORIA - Ted W. Colvin, 89, of East Peoria died Sunday, May 22, 2016, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Ted was born June 1, 1926, in Anniston, Mo., to Thurman and Irene (Weston) Colvin. He married Doris M. Dismeier on June 10, 1951, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Paul (Karen) Colvin of East Peoria and Dan (Ronetta) of Olive Branch, Miss.; one daughter, Sue (Eric) Behrens of Abu Dhabi, UAE; 7 grandchildren, Nikki (Wes) Dyke, Josh (Sarah) Colvin, Joe Colvin, Eric Colvin, Lynsey (Alan) Gimmy, Rob (Lesley) Albright and Jordan Wilson; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Ted has one sister, Martha Curry of East Peoria; and was preceded in death by his mother and father, Thurman and Irene Colvin.
Ted graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1951 and was a Planning Supervisor at Caterpillar, Inc., retiring after 45 years of service in 1987. Ted was a WWII decorated combat veteran who served in the Philippines. Ted was honored with a CIB (Combat Infantryman Badge), and the Bronze Star for Valor.
After the war, he was stationed in Tokyo as a member of General MacArthur's Honor Guard.
Ted was a faith-based man who loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed golf, Cardinals baseball, bowling and traveling. He was active in the General MacArthur Honor Guard Society, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Shriner (Mason, Consistery), volunteered to complete taxes for those in need and volunteered with American Red Cross to deliver blood across Central Illinois.
There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Swan Lake Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Dennis O'Brien officiating. Memorials can be made to Advent Lutheran Church in Morton, TAPS Animal Shelter in Pekin or the South Side Mission in Peoria.
