BILL HIENEMAN
1930-2013
GREENUP, KY - James William "Bill" Hieneman, 83, of Greenup, Kentucky, went to be with his Lord surrounded by his loving family at his home on Monday, October 28, 2013.
He was born on February 4, 1930, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late Harvey and Laura Marie McGuire Hieneman.
Mr. Hieneman served in the Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. He spent most of his service time in Korea.
Bill was a member of the Greenup Christian Church. He was on the Greenup County Health Board and a long-standing member on the Greenup County Fair Board, while serving as Vice Chariman for many of those years. He had only missed one fair, when he was serving in the army and stationed in Korea. Bill loved to be at the fair, farm day, the tractor show, and be involved with his community. He coached youth sports through the years when his sons were involved. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play baseball, golf, and dance for their schools.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ellen Earwood Hieneman; three sons, Mike (Vicky) Hieneman of Greenup, Tim (Paula) Hieneman of Ashland and Steve (Nancy) Hieneman of Greenup; six grandchildren, Andrea (Ryan) Plummer of Lexington, Chad (Kourtney) Hieneman of Ashland, Keith (Tai) Hieneman of Flatwoods, Tyler Hieneman of Greenup, Keri (David) Lucas of Ashland and Trey (Amy) Hieneman of Lexington, KY ; and seven great-grandchildren, Stella Plummer, Sloane Plummer, Emma Kate Hieneman, Daisy and Sean Lucas, Avery and Mallory Hieneman. He is also survived by three brothers, Claude Hieneman of Raceland, Kentucky, Paul Hieneman of Wheelersburg, Ohio, and Tom Hieneman of Burkesville, Kentucky; four sisters, Mary Orf of Knoxville, Tennessee, Molly "Toots" Payne of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Ella Hall of Lloyd, Kentucky, and Vivian Bush of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; and a special sister-in-law, Linda Earwood.
The Pall Bearers will be Chad Hieneman, Keith Hieneman, Tyler Hieneman, Ryan Plummer, Kevin Scaggs, and Bobby Hall.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at the Greenup Christian Church by Pastor Mike Dennis. Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, at the Greenup Christian Church and an hour before the service, also at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greenup Christian Church, Community Hospice of Ashland, or the Greenup County Fair Board.
