MARION "ROCKY" MATTISON
Marion Luther "Rocky" Mattison, 88, of Portsmouth, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born May 4, 1925, in Belton, SC, a son of the late Calvin and Carrie Kay Mattison. Rocky was the retired owner of Rocky's Barber Shop, having graduated from the Cincinnati Barber College in 1967. He was a member of the Trinity Masonic Lodge #9 for over 50 years, a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels and he was a member of the Pleasant Green Baptist Church.
Rocky was preceded in death Aug.17, 1998, by his wife, Avanell Craddolph Mattison, whom he married in Indiana on July 25, 1955.
Surviving are five sons, Gerald L. Harris, Anthony E. Harris, and Alex R. Harris all of Portsmouth, Walter D. Harris of Columbus, and Clark (Mary) Thompson of Indiana; two daughters, Marion L. "Tootie" (Jack) Hostetler of Frankfort and Princess Carter of Portsmouth; a sister, Ruby Howard of Burlington; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Green Baptist Church with Rev. Clarence Parker officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour. A Masonic service will be conducted at the church Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Burial will take place in the Blackfork Union Baptist Cemetery in Blackfork, Ohio.
Arrangements are under the direction of the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth.

Rocky,yes it was great times in the barbershop but the things i remember about you is family which you always made me feel a part of. I will miss all the positive vibes you emitted, I was always welcome at your house. Scripture says not quoteing that he who want friends must first find himself friendly, you did just that. Great guy who I dearly loved and will miss.
