CARL J. CRONIN
MINFORD —Carl J. Cronin, Age 80 of Minford, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at SOMC Hospice. He was born in Sciotoville during the 1937 flood on February 6, 1937 to William Kenneth and Sharlotte (Spray) Cronin. Carl was a longtime employee of Empire Detroit Steel which eventually became the New Boston Coke Plant, working for them from 1957 - 2002. He spent the last 18 years with the company as the Vice President and Plant Manager and served on the Board of Directors for the Coke Plant and the ACCCI. He was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church in Wheelersburg and in his spare time enjoyed taking care of his yard, hunting, fishing, and guns. More than anything he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Carl is survived by his wife, Janet (Whitt) Cronin; sons, William Kenneth (Vickie) Cronin of Sciotoville, Christopher James Cronin of Minford, John Benjamin (Julie) Cronin of Minford; daughters, Cynthia Jo Perry of Portsmouth, Rebecca Ann (Blair) Jones of Minford, Jennifer Ruth (Mark) King of Minford, Allyson Denise (Jason) Messer; sister, Anna Fern (Wayne) Willis of South Lyon, MI; 15 grandchildren, Jessica, Carl, Stephanie, Willie, Steven, Daniel, Jill, Kayla, Mark, J.B., Alissa, Grace, Zeb, Abby, Mallory; and 22 great-grandchildren and two more on the way. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2017 at WOLFE-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville with Pastor Dan Culver officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 - 7 p.m. and one hour before the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to SOMC Hospice. Online condolences may be shared at www.WolfeNelsonFuneralHome.com.
