Mary Theus

1930 - 2016

Mary E. Theus of Merrillville, IN passed away at her home on July 20, 2016. She was born to Robert E. Chism and Octavia (Chesire) Chism on August 14, 1930 in Medon, TN. Mary confessed her hope in Christ at an early age at the Clover Creek M.B. Church in Medon, TN. On December 26, 1953 she was united in Holy Matrimony to John Theus, and to this union five children were born, John M. (Maggie) Theus of Crown Point, IN, Artavia A. Thorpe of Merrillville, IN, Timothy M. (Anna) Theus of Dyer, IN, Angela P. Theus of Merrillville, IN and Amanda I. (Arby) Black of Merrillville, IN. Mary was the grandmother to 12 grandchildren and the great grandmother a.k.a. "G.G." to 21 great grandchildren. She is survived by many other loving family members and precious friends. Preceded in death by her husband, John Theus; parents, Robert and Octavia Chism; siblings; Henry Chism, Severa Reeves, Edward Chism and Stonewall Chism. Mary has lived in Indiana for 54 years, and is a member of the Mt. Horeb M.B. Church in Gary, IN. Visitation will be Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Ridgelawn Funeral Home, 4201 W. Ridge Road, Gary, IN 46408 (219) 980-5555. Funeral Services will be Friday, July 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary, IN.
