Ferra Love

1936 - 2016

Ferra Love, devoted mother and grandmother, departed from this world from her summoning to heaven's gate on March 12, 2016 at the age of 79. Born December 1, 1936 to Tommie Lee Johnson and Louise Anderson in Amory, Mississippi, she accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Village First Baptist. She graduated from Calumet High School in 1956. After several different jobs, she finally found her love for teaching. She taught at Daycare centers around Gary before finally retiring from Nurseyland Foundations. She married twice, first to Robert Hodge, to whom they had three children Yolanda, Rodney and Jarvis and second to Carl Love until his passing. Afterwards she continued to serve the Lord until she was called home. Ferra has joined her loving husband Carl Love, her parents, Louise Anderson & Tommie Lee Johnson, sister Etha Freeman (Hampton). Ferra's legacy continues on through the aid of her devoted children Yolanda Harmon, Rodney Hodge and Jarvis (Sabrina) Hodge; step daughter and son Dawn Mathis & Robert Hodge III; grandchildren Frankie Sanders, Yania Sanders, Deavion Harmon, Marquise Hodge, Charnell Hodge, Jordyn Hodge, Djhanera Hodge, Diamonte Hodge, Jhada Hodge, Jarin Hodge; great grandchildren Kamariah, Kayden & Damarion; nephew Andrew Jones and a host of nieces, nephews,other relatives and precious friends. Visitation Friday March 18, 2016 from 12 noon to 8:00p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel. Funeral Services Saturday March 19, 2016 at 2:00p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church 1095 Jackson Street. Pastor Curtis Lee officiating, Interment. Evergreen Cemetery.
