Jimmie Steele

Jimmie L. Steele of Portage, Indiana born to Eddie Sr. and Idella Steele in Dundee, Ms. Jit as he was affectionately called was second born of a set of triplets. Jimmie began his life at an early age at Holy Bethel M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Earnest Stevenson where he was baptized. One of his fondest memories at Horace Mann High School was running track before graduating. He served in the U.S. Army receiving an honorable discharge. He also attended Lincoln Tech College of automation. He embarked on his career at White Hen Pantry as a manager, where he later worked at Blue Chip Casino as a Boatwain. Jimmie Witty comeback, hilarious sense of humor was a unique and creative as his style of dress. On September 26, 2016 Jimmie was called home to rest in the arms of the Lord. He was preceded in death by Eddie Sr., and Idella Steele, Bernice Bean, Eddie Jr. and David C. Steele. He leaves to cherish his memories his son Jalon Steele of Michigan City, IN, his fiance' LaDonna Latiker of Gary, In, sisters Emma (Willie) Hancock, Alma Lee, Luella all of Memphis, TN, Catha (Albert) Burris of Columbia, TN, Daisy Davis of California, Lillie Steele of Gary, IN, Idella Steele of Indianapolis, In, Chairlaine, Pearline, Ethel Steele of Gary, IN, Robbie (Willie) Robinson of MS, brothers A.L. Steele of MS, Ali Muhammed of Gary, IN, Jessie Steele of Orlando, FL, Gus Bright of Memphis, TN, Willie Steele of Michigan City and Roger (AJaratou) Steele of North Carolina. Special Uncle Willie (Gertrude) Steele and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services Friday October 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Bethlel M.B. Church, 810 W. 8th Ave. Interment Fern Oaks Cemetery, Griffith, IN.
