Marie Sanders

1943 - 2016

Marie Sanders was born May 30, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. At the early age of about 7 the family moved to Seattle, Washington and lived there until her pre-teen years, when the family moved to Gary, Indiana. She was a proud graduate of Roosevelt high school, class of 1961. After her success in high school she then landed a job at Western Electric where she worked for 10 years, all while going to school at DePaul University. She then met Eddie Lamb Sanders in 1966, and the two were married a year later. After the birth of the couple's first child Monique she began working at US Steel where she was in production planning for 10 years. After falling ill she left there employ and then worked for General Motors in management for another 10 years, until she once again fell sick. Marie has an avid love for God, her family, and her church. She is survived by her husband Eddie Sanders, children: Monique (Alfonso)Rodriguez, Brian Sanders, Michelle Sanders, and step daughter LaDonna Sanders; grandchildren: Giovanni Jenkins, Alfonso Rodriguez, Joseph Rodriguez, Emmanuel Rodriguez, and Elijah Sanders, and a host of other relatives and close friends. Visitation is on 8/3/16 from 9 to 11 a.m., and the funeral begins and 11 at New Mt Moriah Baptist Church (1917 Carolina St, Gary, IN.).
