Wayne R. Walker, Sr., age 66, of Gary, IN passed away 12/10/16 at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Wayne was born 2/14/50 in Winfield, AL to the late Willie Blanchard and Emma (Walker) Robinson, as well as his late step-father William Robinson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a steelworker at Bethlehem Steel/Arcelor Mittal, a business owner of Chill Factor Cooling & Heating, & teacher of Israel, The Church of Jesus. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, aunts, & uncles. Wayne is survived by his loving wife Darlene; five children: Wayne Jr., Tashell, Darnequea, Camille, & Breonna; two grandchildren: Kaden & Kyla; step-brother: Alto; and a host of other family and friends. Visitation Monday, December 19, 2016. From 9-11:00 a.m. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. All services at the Guy and Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave. with Pastor Elijah Israel officiating. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park.

First off I extend my deepest heartfelt condolences to the entire Family and friends of Brother Wayne Walker. I Only found out about his transitioning a few hours ago. I am tremendously saddened by his passing.

I met Wayne several years ago and we became bandmates and good friends. He was an awesome guy!...
As life has it, we disbanded. Years went by and we crossed paths again and performed again one last time a few months ago. It was a wonderful reunion between Brothers, two Good Friends & Spiritually connected musical comrades....

In the short time I knew bro Wayne, he definitely left his impression on me. This Bro. Was soft spoken and humble. To me, he kept a smile, showing he loved preaching the gospel. Those were the times I saw him, preaching. Every time, his presence made me feel like "dang, I have to learn how to be more humble". I looked at him and really did a gut check and although he's gone, he's one of the perfect examples I'm trying to be like. I wish, I had talked to him more. I just assumed the Lord would allot me the time. However, I have enough to learn from and I will apply what I saw in him. To his family, pls be encouraged as we look toward the resurrection. I know and understand the tears are there. If possible, reflect on the man of God,husband, father etc. you knew him to be. As I will reflect on what God allowed him to be to me. Wayne Walker was a teacher in my life. He showed me how to love spiritually not physical. To always respect and love myself. I learned from him that I could love a person unconditionally.
