Clarence Douglas Borom, age 72, passed away at Methodist Hospital Northlake Friday, January 15, 2016. He was born in Columbus, GA. He was a retired foreman of Inland Steel with 31 years of service. Clarence was a member of New Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Tolleston High School Class of 1962. Clarence was preceded in death by parents, William and Beatrice Borom, uncle & aunt who raised him Hollis and Jennie Mitchell, son Sean D. Borom, 2 brothers William Borom Jr. and Jacob Crawford, sister Juanita Alexander. He leaves to cherish his precious memories a loving and devoted wife of 46 years Diana M. Borom, 2 sons Trenton (Tira) Borom, and Trevor H. Borom; 2 sisters Bennie (Paul) Simmons, and Mildred Williamson and his good friend Thaddeus Slaughter; 7 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 12 to 8 pm family hours (6-8 pm) at the Guy & Allen Funeral Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave. Committal services Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Ridgelawn Cemetery. Rev. W. N. Reed, Officiating.

My deepest sympathy to you Diana and your whole family. I loved Clarence and he was such a joy to work with. I remember when he started working at Aegis Properties in 2005, I could not have asked for a better employee. I use to tell him if he ever retired while I was there I would too. However, I did end up retiring before him but came back in 2012 and had the joy to work with him again.

He was a wonderful, kind man and a great employee. We at Aegis were so saddened when he ended up leaving us last year, but we knew his health was an issue. He will be missed by all that loved him. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to get to know him, work with him, and called him my friend.

Your family is in my prayers at this difficult time.

Dear Diana, Trenton, Trevor and the entire Borom Family,

It is with a heavy heart that I send this message of condolence. My Godfather Clarence was a loving family man and great friend who will be sorely missed. We take great comfort in knowing that he is in a better place, reunited with those he loved dearly. Mr. Clarence will be sorely missed. I will always remember him as a helpful person, just a nice gentleman. As a workman at the Merrillville Office Center on 61st and Harrison, he always had a smile to great you and a willing attitude when work was needed. I know he's in a better place.
