Lynn MacDonald Obituary

MacDonald, Lynn T.

Neenah - Lynn T. MacDonald, 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at Appleton Medical Center after a long illness.

Lynn leaves behind Linda Lee, his wife of 54 years, and two married sons: Terry (Lisa) and Lynn David (Lisa). Lynn is also survived by grandsons Dane (fiancée Emily) and Hunter; granddaughters Brittany and Kali (Charlie) Fennema; and great grandchildren Sophia and Zeekiel Fennema.

Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, Lynn was a long-term resident of Neenah, Wisconsin, but also enjoyed time at his other homes in Marco Island, Florida; Saint Germain, Wisconsin; and Sault Ste. Marie.

Lynn began his career with the humblest of beginnings - married to Linda Lee and with their two babies, Terry and Lynny, he worked as an iron worker at Algoma Steel, all while putting himself through engineering school at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. After graduating with honors, he accepted a job at Allen-Bradley Company, where he worked his way up to manager of sales and engineering of the Appleton sales office. Lynn resigned from Allen-Bradley to work for his friend, Lynn Werner, of Werner Electric Supply Company. Soon thereafter, Lynn Werner passed away unexpectedly, and Lynn MacDonald purchased the business from the Werner family.

From the very beginning, Lynn's vision centered on world-class customer service and technical support. To enable this, he funded construction of new facilities whenever corporate growth required additional inventory and employees. He advanced Werner Electric Supply through product diversification, market expansion, acquisitions, and joint ventures. He foresaw the importance of partnering with national organizations such as the National Association of Electrical Distributors and Affiliated Distributors, to drive growth. The execution of Lynn's plans took Werner Electric from its beginnings in Neenah, to 13 locations across Wisconsin, the Upper Michigan region, and most recently North Dakota.

In addition to Lynn's caring family, he leaves behind the legacy of a strong company that only he could have built. Lynn's dedication and spirit will forever be the foundation of Werner Electric Supply Company.

Lynn was an avid outdoorsman and duck hunting was his primary passion. In lieu of flowers, a memorial account to benefit Ducks Unlimited of Wisconsin has been established in his name through Associated Bank. For more information, visit www.wernerelectric.com.

Final arrangements are being handled by Westgor Funeral Home in Neenah, although no funeral service will be held. Instead, at Lynn's request, a private celebration of life is being planned for December.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Linda Lee and her family. I worked for Lynn in the "old" building on Chapman Ave. in Neenah starting in 1985. I will always remember the fun Werner Electric Supply Christmas parties in the 80's and early 90's as well as the kindness that Lynn and Linda Lee showed to me and my family. Lynn's tremendous legacy will live on.
