Rose Enz Obituary

Enz, Rose

Passed away on the evening of February 18, 2013 at Living Oaks, Iola, WI. She was born at home near Pine Grove, WI on February 11, 1917; the first born of Frank and Anna.

Rose married Elmer Enz on May 31, 1937; he preceded her in death in April of 1999. She began married life on the family farm with moves to Chilton, Sheboygan, Green Bay, Cato, Wausau and then to Menasha in 1952. Along the journey to Menasha three additions were made with Noritha, Dallas and Arnold. Rose worked in a clothing store and dry cleaning store. She took classes on restoring light shades, drapes, hats, and reupholstering furniture. Her greatest passions were gardening and her church in Menasha, St. John the Baptist. She was at mass daily, was in the rosary society and Nicolet Daughters. Friends and family remember her as a sweet, soft spoken, extraverted lady who was always saying a prayer for others.

Surviving Rose are Noritha (Jim Voigt), Dallas Enz and Arnold (Susan) Enz Sr, nine grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Neenah.

My great grandmother lived long enough to outweigh herself in years. She's been a staple, she's always just been. And now she isn't any more. It's jarring.

You know, she'd seal envelopes with stickers and she insisted on being buried with her wedding photo and her rosary. She had jellybeans in every cabinet so that when my grandmother would take a bag, she'd have seven more. She lived to become a great grandmother, she knew her family tree better than the United States census, and she kept photos from family members dead before her time in a box underneath her couch. She might not have known the day, but point to a face in one of those pictures and she'd tell you how you were related to them.

She was loved with breadth and she loved with a kindness big enough to envelop so many. She will be ardently missed.

Arnie, Sue, Dallas, Noritha & Jim,
Thinking about you & your families & sending my love & sympathy. Just reread a newsy letter that your mom had sent to me in August of 2011. She was such a sweet lady. Maybe it was all those jelly beans ?! Her belove
St. John's Church will soon be celebrating it's 125th anniversary.
You're in my thoughts & prayers.

Rose and Elmer were our neighbors on Tayco Street. They were sweet wonderful people who I'm certain are having a glorious reunion.
