Kevin Lathrop Obituary

Lathrop, Kevin

Kevin Lathrop, age 57, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014, after a courageous battle with early onset Alzheimer's. Kevin was born to Robert and Bette (Granger) Lathrop on May 24, 1957, in New London. He spent his childhood on the family farm, raising animals and causing mischief. In 1975, Kevin graduated from New London High School and then married Susan Szablewski on March 20, 1982. Throughout his career, Kevin worked for CENEX in various capacities, most recently for Rocky Mountain Supply in Dillon, Montana.

Kevin was a loving father and husband, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially loved the mountains, nature, and going on adventures. Kevin had a sense of humor that would light up the room. He loved sports, and was an inspirational coach and teammate. He had a special love for the Green Bay Packers and football Sundays. Kevin had a huge heart, a strong sense of empathy, and was always willing to help anyone at anytime. He touched many lives in the states of Montana and Wisconsin. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Lathrop; daughters: Jenny (Colin), Nikki (Levi) and Kayla (Brett); grandchildren: Austin and Emma; his father: Robert Lathrop; brothers and sisters: Mark (Melanie) Lathrop, Joy (Scott) Webster, Terry (Tracy) Lathrop and Peter Lathrop. Kevin is further survived by nephews, nieces, very dear friends Mark and Jeanne Brown, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Bette Lathrop; sister, Dawn; and brother, Dale.

Funeral service for Kevin will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, New London with Rev. Greg Watling officiating. Visitation will be held at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and also at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery, New London.

The family would like to thank the staff of Care Partners in Winneconne and hospice for their wonderful care of Kevin in his final days.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

My condolences. Had some great times with Kevin and the whole New London group that we met while playing in some of the New London softball tournaments back in the day. Kevin always had a smile on his face and was just a fun loving person. Sorry to hear this sad news.
