Shirley Ardell Obituary

Ardell, Shirley A.

Shirley Ann Ardell, 88, of Appleton passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. She was born on May 11, 1927 in Appleton, the daughter of the late Austin and Helen (Corrigan) Ardell.

She was always up for a game and played regularly.

Shirley's Catholic faith was very dear to her. She attended Bible studies and retreats whenever she could. For many years Shirley led the rosary before daily Mass and spent an hour in adoration every Saturday morning. Shirley volunteered every Monday in the parish office and weekly at St. Joseph Food Pantry. She treasured time with her friends, frequently sharing a meal at Mary's Family Restaurant. Shirley was thoughtful and generous, sending a card for every occasion.

Shirley is survived by nieces and nephews: Tom (Beth) Ardell, Kathy (Barry) Permenter, Mary (Dave) Schuette, Jim (Marion) Roovers, Sue (Dave) Scherg, Mark (Kathy) Roovers, Diane (Todd) Jezeski, Julie (Dean) Scrivener, Sharon (Dan) Reinke, Judy (Mike) Van Vreede, Andy (Lynn Munyon) Minten, Paul (Billi Timm) Minten, Amy (Roger) Stienen, Katie (Brian) Ronk and Michael Minten. She if further survived by a brother-in-law, Tom Roovers, and many dear, close friends.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Doris Roovers, Carol (Joseph) Minten, an infant sister, Kathleen Ardell, and brothers, Robert (Judy) Ardell, Gerald Ardell and Ken Ardell.

Mass of Christian burial for Shirley will be at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton, with Fr. Thomas J Farrell officiating.
