KLEIN
CAROLE LYNN (LUBOVE)
On Thursday, November 15, 2012, age 73, of Pittsburgh. Beloved wife of Stanley Klein for 40 years; caring mother to her children, Scott Klein, Seth Lubove, Mindy Klein, and Rebecca Sender; and cherished daughter of Harold and Anne Gollance, of Boston, MA. She had four loving grandchildren, Jesse and Emma Lubove of Los Angeles, CA, and Jessica and Matthew Sender of Doylestown, PA. Carole was a kind, gentle, and caring soul, and will be held forever in the hearts of a wide circle of family, friends, students, and colleagues. Born in Boston, MA, Carole lived in New York City and Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh. She attended Hunter College, and was an active artist, teacher, and business woman throughout her life. Carole traveled throughout the world, and collected friends everywhere she went. Among her many accomplishments, Carole was a fiber arts instructor at the Ivy School of the Arts and Lambert House, as well as many workshops throughout the country. She was a long-time, active member of Fiber 10, the Associated Artists, Weavers Guild, and Craftsmans Guild of Pittsburgh. During her tenure as President of the Craftsmans Guild, Carole took a lead role in establishing the annual "Fair in the Park" as one of Pittsburgh's longest-standing and most successful community events. Along with her husband, she was co-founder of Ten Continents, an import store in Squirrel Hill, and Rainbow Mills Yarn Company, an internationally recognized boutique enterprise specializing in hand-spun, hand-dyed, and space-dyed yarns. As Barbara Cloud wrote in the Pittsburgh Press, "Sweaters are the perfect canvas to show Carole Klein's affair of the heart - dyeing yarns to her own innate color sense." Carole also developed a special and unique brand, "Carole Klein Knits" to showcase her extraordinary sweaters, jackets, scarves, and other wearables. In addition her love of travel, Carole enjoyed all genres of music, visual arts and museums, spending time with her family, and taking care of her pets. All services will be private to the family. Friends are welcome to visit anytime at the family home. Donations in Carole's memory would be welcomed at the Animal Rescue League, www.animalrescue.org. Dear Stan and Family
We just learned of Carole's passing and were shocked and dismayed. Our condolences. Not only were we linked to Carole through the Craftsman Guild but also through her fondness for the Pulik. We will miss her exuberance and positive attitude. May she rest in peace. Ben and Carole Hodes

Dear Stanley, Becky, Seth and family,
My mother called to tell me about Carole and I am having trouble believing she is actually gone. How could that be?
I have so many memories of her: her ceaseless enthusiasm, quirky wackiness, loud, contagious laughter and her 60's black cat eye liner (which she more than likely stopped wearing years ago but that's how I remember her).
She was one of those people that make an impression. The talent, the inventiveness, the sheer energy.
Sometimes over the top, but always memorable.
Someone whose mention will always bring a clear image to my mind and a smile to my face. She was that neat of a lady!

A powerful influence on so many young Pittsburgh artists -- I will always remember the world of fiber arts that you opened up to us while at Ivy and you were a friend to all. You left us too soon.

Dear Stanley, Few couples could embrace and display the genuine hope and caring support two people bestow upon one another more than the Love You and Carol held for eachother everyday. You were never apart, nor will you ever be. She was so gracious, and more caring towards people than anyone I knew. She was so generous, hospitable, and appeared at Peace with All. She was a Spirit of Intelligence. She understood. She was patient. She was kind. She was an enormous understated prescence. A Spirit too big for this world to hold. She left so much for all of us to remember her by. And remember her we will. We who knew her and wish we'd known her longer, will miss her so.
