Harvey and Gillian were kind to me. I stayed after a party they had and they heard about my new job at Caltech. Trivial to what Harvey was working on, but since it was important to me so they congratulated me and understood how nice for me to leave an awful job. Hi to Dolly. She and I played together.

Dear Gillian,
I am very sorry to hear of your husband's passing. I wish that I had gotten to meet Harvey during my years in the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra back in the 80s. May God provide you with peace and comfort during this time.

Dear Gillian, Dolly, and David,
I heard today of Harvey's death from my mom, and I am so sorry to hear. I have many memories of Harvey - he was "one of the dads" at the Savoyards, - he, my father, and Mike Daniels - watching out for the teenagers. I remember trying to match wits with him, and failing. And I was always so impressed by his obvious professional success matched with such a spirit of volunteerism. He was a great man, my parents are very saddened by his loss, and so am I.

Our lives will not be the same with the loss of our wonderfully warm and witty cousin Harvey. This gentle, loving man filled his life with five of the greatest pleasures:family, friends, music, humor, and interesting work. He started all of his phone calls with wry stories and quirky jokes. Harvey was a technology visionary - a scientist/engineer - notably pressing for the use of robots in situations that would be unsafe for humans. We feel blessed that Harvey attended the wedding of our daughter Alice in May 2014 in the Washington DC area. It was not easy for him to walk on the grounds of the small park where the wedding was held. He celebrated his 80th birthday on that occasion in his usual low-key, self-deprecating manner. We treasure a photo of Harvey blowing out a candle on that occasion and looking young and dapper. We mourn the loss of Harvey and send our love to Gillian, Dolly, David, Gene, and Roz. Love - Martha Linet and Paul Bailey

Yetta and I have lost one of our oldest and dearest friends here in Pittsburgh. We were touched by all who presented so eloquently and accurately about Harvey at his funeral today.
As has been the case in the past, we will continue to stay in contact with you.

I enjoyed talking with Harvey during our breaks at Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra rehearsals. We shared discussions on our mutual work in the nuclear field. Harvey never disappointed me - he always had to add humor to the conversation. He will be missed by me and the many other PCO members.

I am truly sorry to hear of Harvey's passing. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra for half a century and one of our treasured assets. Our rehearsals haven't been quite the same without his humor, especially his puns. We will all miss him. My sincere condolences to all of Harvey's family and friends.

Harvey and I were stand partners in the Pittsburgh Savoyards for many, many years, and in recent years we played together in the viola section of the Tuesday Musical Club string ensemble, as well. Like my dad, he was an inveterate punster, and like W.S. Gilbert, could always find the humor in any situation. He'll be sorely missed!

As a fellow Pittsburgh Savoyard orchestra member, I am saddened to hear of Harvey's passing. It was an honor to nominate Harvey for the Dominion Volunteer in the Arts Award, which he deservedly won. Wishing his family and friends peace and comfort at this difficult time.

Harvey was a kind and gentle man with a fine sense of humor. I spent many an evening with him and Gillian and their son David, having dinner in their home or occaisionaly dining out. I saw him play viola with the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra. I celebrated a couple of Passovers with Harvey and his family - they made me feel like I was a member, not a guest.
My thoughts are with Gillian, David and Dolly as they lay Harvey to rest. As we mourn, so do we celebrate the life of Harvey Meieran.

"Professor" Harvey - I shall miss sharing a little joke with you. How I wish we could be with you Gillian, David and Dolly and we are certainly there in spirit. Condolences also to Eugene and Ros. With deepest love to you all from your family across the pond - Mavis, Anjy and the children

Harvey I will miss you,our many laughs together and your love of music and life.

This weekend, when our curtain goes up, The Pittsburgh Savoyards will celebrate the life of a long-time member who reached his double bar at last. Even in the face of such a loss, I cannot help but think that Harvey would appreciate laughing song and merry dance as a fit tribute for a life well-lived. He will be remembered by the company he enriched for so many years. For myself and on behalf of the company, I offer condolences to Gillian and to the rest of his family. He was a good man, and he is already missed.

Harvey was a man with a great zest for life & tremendous passion for music! I feel lucky to have known him & played with him in the Savoyards. He never allowed his age to stop his enthusiasm for living. We all should follow his example. Thanks, Harvey. You touched many & made their lives better.

So sorry to hear about Harvey passing on. He was in the Pittsburgh Savoyards Pit Orchestra when I started there in 1992 and his "wit in the pit" delighted the entire group for a very long time. I will miss him so much! Condolences to family and friends.
