DONALD R.
Age 85, of Export, died Thursday, April 10, 2014. He was born July 22, 1928, in Genoa, Ohio, son of the late Robert P. and Celia Martin Lackey. He received his undergraduate degree in engineering from the University of Toledo and his law degree from Wayne State University. Don worked for Westinghouse for over 40 years, the last 30 of which he was a patent attorney at the R & D in Churchill. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville and taught CCD classes. He also volunteered and counseled senior citizens with the Apprise Group. He loved his family, was the ultimate handyman, taught himself German, played the piano, played pool games, loved golf, was an avid crossword puzzle solver and was an avid sports fan for all the Pittsburgh sports teams, the Cleveland Indians and the Toledo Mud Hens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce LaPlant; and a son-in-law, George Fix. Don is survived by his wife of 62 and a half years, Ann T. Weis Lackey; four children, Robert L. (Karen) Lackey of Hermitage, Gary D. (Mary Jo) Lackey of Hermitage, Daniel R. (Margaret) Lackey of Murrysville and Laurie Fix of Aiken, SC; ten grandchildren, Emily (Benjamin) Kavanagh, Cecilia (Trevor) Smith, Suzanne, Robert, Patrick, Dennis, Gregory, Melissa, Jeffrey and Richard; two great-grandsons, Owen and Daniel; and a sister, Caroline (Thomas) Russell of Columbus, OH. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the HART FUNERAL HOME, INC., Murrysville. Additional visitation 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. If desired, memorials may be made to Mother of Sorrows Church Building Fund or Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 50 Moffett St., Pittsburgh, PA 15243.
