GREGORY CHARLES
Died suddenly on May 5, 2004 in Madison, WI. He was born March 10, 1948 in Wilkinsburg, PA, son to Philip and Ann Reinsel. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1966. He then received his B.S. in Mathematics in 1970, M.S. in 1972 and Ph.D. in Math and Statistics in 1976 from the University of Pittsburgh. Greg and his wife Sandy married on May 15, 1976 at Heinz Chapel. Also that year he became an assistant professor in the Statistics Department of the University of Wisconsin, an associate professor in 1983 and a full professor in 1987. Greg served as an associate chairman of the statistics department from 1995-1997 and chairman 1997 through 2001. He authored and co-authored 3 books in the field of Time Series Analysis. Greg had studied the depletion of the ozone layer for many years with a team of scientists from NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration & the National Center for Atmospheric Research. He loved classic movies and continued a life long interest in building models of military aircraft and vehicles. He also loved to jog and hike, especially in our National Parks. He enjoyed playing basketball and watching golf and football as well. He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Sandy; children, Christopher (Jennifer) of Neenah, WI, Sarah of Boulder, CO; brothers, John Reinsel of Pittsburgh, PA and Jim (Janet) Reinsel of Columbia, MD; and niece, Kara Reinsel of Boston, MA. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 10, 2004 at 11:00am at Divine Savior United Methodist Church, 5702 South Hill Drive, with Reverend Christine Bethke officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 9, 2004 from 2-4 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road in Madison, WI, (608-238-3434) and also one hour before service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. www.cressfuneralservice.com

We will both remember Greg as a very

quiet and sincere person. We extend our deepest sympathy to the family. We are the grandparents of Jennifer Graham Reinsel, wife of Chris Reinsel, who we have welcomed with open arms into our family. Prayers go to all the family.
