I just heard this sad news. My prayers are with all who knew Jeff, that they are strenghtened by memories of what a special guy he was. I was part of a group of friends who hung out with Jeff in junior high and the early part of high school (7th - 10th grades). He was at my house for several fun parties, and was always such a genuinely nice and friendly person, with never an unkind word for anybody. That is how I will remember him. As well as his dazzling smile!

Rest in peace, and watch over the rest of us, Jeff.

You will be missed so much, Ogre. There are no words to express the sorrow felt by so many people. You touched so many lives with your awesome ways and made everyone smile. I believe you are at peace and your soul is with your family. Your smile is with us in our hearts and our memories.
Beth--We are here for you. We are so sorry. And to your families, we hope you smile often with happy memories and that those memories and time will help to ease some of your pain.

Jeffrey,

I talked with you just a few months ago and it was a refreshing feeling. As we talked, we both knew that even as life can get confusing while growing older some things we had were and are still the best, and nothing was better than a friend like you. I realized that when I left home, that no matter what, I always have those days forever in my heart. With no script, no rules, and just the heartbeat of friends, all that was done and said, things that appear gone remain. We didn't miss a beat growing up with you, Jeff. Those times westview was the world and everyone could be found on grove ave. on a summer night. I will treasure our time hanging together on many of those nights when we were all too young to realize what we had, but now I realize what we had and I will pray that we all cherish that. A lot of memories Jeff; from Mr. Evans (me, you and Matt) wow I can still see Mr. Evans as we scurry across the roof, look out here comes the old iron rake! how about our ninja clan, or all of our other crazy ideas. What about all the times we stopped to speak with the elders of grove or offer help, folks such as Mrs. Timmie or other neighbors (I wonder how many young people do that in the neighborhoods now) Or, how about all the time spent laughing, playing, and loving life together. Yeah, those are the best. I learned a lot from you, how to make people feel happy by just being yourself. Thank you for making me feel happy and thank you for being my friend when I needed it most. I know there is a purpose to everything in life even when it doesn't seem so. I know God gave me and everyone on grove a friend like you so that we can pass on your spirit that you shared with all of us. I know you were a lover of life and a fighter. I love you Jeffrey! Rest in Peace.
Your Friend Always,
Packy
Your friend always.

You and Pat were 7 years old in the backyard playing. I lost my diamond ring, had looked everywhere. You and Pat were on a search but YOU found it.
I remember exactly what I said "you are my hero forever, Jeff!" And because of your divine kindness and sweetness - you are hero forever, Jeffrey Russell Lenz. May our God wrap his arms around you and those you have loved on this earth. Amen
