NICHOLAS MERCOLINI Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 22 to Feb. 23, 2011.
MERCOLINI NICHOLAS
"Always Something" was a frequent saying of Nicholas Mercolini, 65, who died tragically on Sun., Feb. 20, 2011. In Crafton he raised his two children, Shannon (Rene Veron) and Nicholas Mercolini, Jr. with his wife, Catherine (Napoleon) Mercolini; born on Feb. 26, 1945, Nick was the youngest brother of Mary Snatchko, Josephine Schwartz, Medio "Mike" Mercolini, Patricia Kneup, Joan Schwartz, John and the late Alexander, Jr. and Carmella Mercolini; preceded in death by parents, Alexander and Adelaide (Spada) Mercolini. He was truly loved by all, including his dog, Lucky. With his passion for fun in life and his wizardry in the kitchen, Nick kept his friends and family together through his signature dishes. Celebrate the life of this wonderful man Wed. 6-8 p.m. and Thurs. 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at WM. F. CONROY FUNERAL HOME, 2944 Chartiers Ave., Sheraden. Funeral Mass in St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Greentree Fri. at 10 a.m. Nick was a baker at Mancini's for over 30 years.

Cathy, Shannon, and Nick:
It was so tragic to hear the news of Nick's passing. Almost unbelievable. But I know that Nick was full of life, and that he would want you all to continue smiling and having fun. So that's what we'll do, together. We'll smile, have fun, love family, love life, and celebrate the wonderful life that once was, and await the big party in the heavens! We never know when we're about the join that party, but I'm sure Nick will be waiting with some good food and a big smile for each of us when we meet him again. Our love and prayers go out to you, and if there's anything at all we can do, please reach out. We will never forget that snowy night on the way home from the South Fayette Wrestling Match where we thought we would end up in a ditch, but we made it! We went to Kings afterwards only to have the power go out! These and many memories (like Dan and Nick's double Communion party and our Christmas breakfasts at your house before we went our separate ways to our own Christmas celebrations) went with Nick to the big party in the sky. Love you all!

Cathy, Shannon and Nick,
Its so hard for all of us who knew Nick to write about a great man, loving husband and caring Dad.
The love of family was the key ingredient to Nick's life.
Nick always had a smile that melted the hearts of many in Crafton.
We will miss Nick but we have our memories of him. Supporting and watching his kids in sports, at Crafton Celebrates and seeing him with Cathy.
Take comfort in knowing God has given you a gift, the happy memories with your Husband and Dad. An unforgetable hug, a kiss, a hearty laugh or just a smile. Memories last a lifetime.
Our prayers are with you today and always.

Nick Mercolini was an inspiration to me. I would give anything to have been able to adequately thank him for the moral support that he gave me when he called me in the hospital, during my inpatient stay. Nick had successfully overcome health problems of his own and was living his second life to the fullest, helping others, traveling with his wonderful wife and children.
I will forever miss his kindness and his laugh. He always brought his extended family joy and laughs, in the good times and the not so good. He knew how to live to the fullest, and lift us up when we needed it. Cathy, Shannon and Nick, you are in our thoughts and prayers as we remember your loving husband and father.
