ROBERT DANFORTH Obituary
Age 87, of Moon Township, passed away on Monday Feb. 22, 2010. Born in San Antonio, TX on Feb. 28, 1922, a son of the late Colonel George L. and Agnes (Martin) Danforth. Beloved husband for 66 ½ years to Jean Dreher Danforth; loving father of Lt. Colonel Robert D. Danforth (Ret.) (Phyllis Hammond), Nancy H. Danforth, Margaret Danforth, Patricia Danforth (Art Padovese), William Danforth, John Danforth (Ann Hickmott), and Sarah Danforth (Ed Battle); Dad was the proud grandfather of 12 and a great grandfather of 4. He was preceded in death by his six siblings. A 1943 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. Dad was a career Army Officer who served in WW ll and completed two tours of duty in Vietnam. Upon his retirement in 1973, he returned to college and earned a business degree from Robert Morris University, graduating summa cum laude. Dad enjoyed his summers in the Adirondack Mountains in Hadley, NY, and being with his favorite dogs, Merrily and Minnie. "Dad we will miss you" Visitation on Thursday 7-9pm & Friday from 1PM until time of service at 3:00 PM at COPELAND'S MOON TOWNSHIP, 981 Brodhead Rd., Moon Twp. Pa. 15108 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Animal Friends, a no-kill shelter, or to one's favorite charity, if desired.

Dear Jean,
My condolences to you and your family on Bob's passing. Meeting you both and getting to know you during my months in Hadley was a true priviledge. I especilally enjoyed our dinners together, and my Halloween trip to the Hollow with Bob.
After so many years together I am sure it will be a difficult transition for you, but I know that your family is there for you. I hope that you will be coming to the Adirondacks this summer, and that we will be able to get together and share stories. Love, Dawn (Sebring,Florida)

Jean,
My mind is flooded with fond memories of you and Bob - from sitting under the stars on Hadley Hill talking above the noise of the tree frogs and crickets to our chats at the post office. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and the family.

Dear Jean and family
It is with great sadness that I am writing this note of condolence. I have known your family since the early 70's. I have watched them grow up and and admired the way that you and the Colonel raised them. I have come to love Pat and Sarah over the years and often think of them.
JoAnn and I are in Arizona and won't be able to visit. We will always remember the Colonel . Jean we are thinking of you
